What is Messy Church? Messy Church is about people coming together as they are, whether tidy or messy and with their messy or tidy families, just coming to God as they are and seeing what a Christian community is all about. Everything we do, all the activities we prepare, the environment we create is for children and adults, for old and for young. Re-creation and recreation are both important as we meet God in the safe space of play. We try to create space where people can come in and be part of a church with a difference! We provide food so that people can gather around tables and enjoy being together. Messy Church is church. Messy Church helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It has three elements:
Creativity – using hands-on activities to explore Bible stories, and to reflect a God of creativity and to give people a chance to play together.
Celebration – It reflects a God of joy who wants his people to have life in all its fullness.
Hospitality – This reflects a God of unconditional love and is a church for people outside church, providing an oasis of welcome and a safe place in which to thrive. Messy Church is about hospitality, expressed most evidently by eating together – whether it is a plate of sandwiches to share or sausage and mash.
Messy Church is held on the third Sunday of each month from 4pm – 6pm in Cheddon Fitzpaine Village Hall (except July and August). Everyone is welcome. Just turn up
