I’m Jim. I was born and raised in Dorset, then after university settled in Birmingham where I was ordained and worked for nearly 30 years. I now live in The Vicarage, Kingston St Mary within the benefice and can often be seen on working days in hi-viz on my bike. I’m married with three grown children and two grandchildren and enjoy watching the local cricket and rugby as well as occasionally stepping up to the crease myself.

I’m Peter. I was licensed as a Reader over 20 years ago and now minister in the South Quantock Benefice. I’m married with two grown children.  Born and raised in the North East, I’ve moved around the country a lot over the years since then but after most recently living near Coventry for 35 years we’re now settled in Monkton Heathfield.  My professional background was largely in social work education.  As a Reader I’m licensed mainly to teach, preach and lead worship. I especially appreciate the opportunity of listening and talking about the Christian faith in support, wherever people are in their own life journeys. I also try, at least, to keep fit in occasional visits to a gym, and keep a watching TV eye on the progress of Newcastle United football team.

NEW CHILDREN & FAMILIES WORKER FOR KINGSTON ST MARY

Ele Winders joined the church team as Children and Families Worker in January 2026.

Ele studied Theology at Durham University before teaching Religion and Philosophy at boarding schools in Berkshire and South London.

She moved to Kingston eighteen months ago with her husband, and three children: In her (rare) moments of free time, she enjoys running, long Quantock walks and trying to learn the piano.

Ele says: ‘Children have such a beautiful inquisitive nature; a trusting, hopeful, joyful way of seeing the wonderful world we live in. Jesus said: ‘let the little children come to me’, highlighting the trusting simplicity so effortlessly held in the faith of a child. So that is my vision; to let the little (and slightly bigger) children of Kingston St Mary explore matters of faith whilst also building a supportive, faith based, community of parents. I hope to do this through buggy walks, coffee mornings, prayer events, school assemblies, a re-vamped children’s corner in Sunday church and much more.
